I was so close for our young talented Willis Liniert at this years U19 National Criterium Championship. It was a big bunch of ambitious riders getting to the start line but high pace and aggressive riding towards 2nd half of the race quickly reduce the bunch to a small exclusive group of riders. Not surprisingly Willis was one of the riders represent in the defining group and as the lap count went up the group got reduced to 10 riders only. With 2 laps to go Willis got caught in a small crash and while he managed to re-connect with the group shortly before the last corner he couldn’t get into position for the final sprint. Willis still finished strong in 7th position but naturally disappointed knowing that he could have played a role in the final sprint. Crashing out is always everyones fear getting into a race – but an unfortunate part of racing that we have to live with. We congratulate Willis on a strong ride and look forward to see him race soon again.
